SENO

Special Educational Needs Organisers

A Special Educational Needs Organiser, or SENO, is a professional who works for the National Council for Special Education (NCSE). Their primary role is to allocate appropriate school places and Special Needs Assistant supports to pupils with Special Educational Needs. This includes identifying suitable options for children who require placement in a special class or special school. SENOs are an essential point of contact for families seeking support for their child, particularly when it comes to school and class placements for children with autism.

Each SENO is assigned to a specific geographic area and a set number of primary and post-primary schools within that area. They assess the needs of individual children and determine which supports and entitlements will be most beneficial. To locate and contact the SENO for your area, visit the NCSE website for contact details (or see links below).
