At PALS Preschool, we are committed to supporting each child’s communication development through a collaborative and individualised approach. Our Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) services are designed to meet the unique needs of every child, fostering effective and meaningful communication skills.
Assessment and Goal Setting
Our consultant Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) conducts comprehensive assessments and develops specific, individualised goals for each child.
Implementation
These goals are implemented throughout the week by our skilled speech facilitator, ensuring consistency and practice across daily activities.
Ongoing Support
Our SLT visits the preschool monthly to observe progress, fine-tune programs, and provide guidance to ensure optimal outcomes.
Tools and Techniques
We use evidence-based strategies to help children communicate effectively:
PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System):
Many children begin their communication journey with PECS, learning to express themselves using pictures.
AAC Devices and GRID Software:
As children progress, we introduce Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices, utilising GRID software to expand their communication abilities.
Encouraging Oral Language
Throughout all stages, we actively encourage and support the development of oral language, helping children build verbal skills alongside other communication methods.
