PALS (Play and Language Support) Preschool opened in September 2008 and is a registered charity (charity number 18369). PALS provides early intervention programs for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The school runs 5 days a week, 9am to 2pm, from September through to July and we enrol children between the ages of 3 to 6 years. PALS use an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) approach to teaching in both of its classrooms.
At PALS we believe:
- That our individual education programmes give the structure and support that enable positive learning outcomes for our pupils.
- That all children have the right to aspire to the highest standards attainable and that their achievements should be supported, recognised and praised.
- That parents have the greatest knowledge of their children and can make a major contribution to the success of their child’s school experience.
- That children should be enabled to live as independently as possible. That they should be encouraged to make decisions and communicate independently.
PALS encourages a child centered, multidisciplinary environment, and works closely with each family at every step of the child’s education. We welcome input from other professionals ensuring consistency and a comprehensive service to the child and their family. PALS currently engage a consultant Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), Olive Gormley BSc (Hons) in Clinical Speech and Language Studies, Hanen trained, PECS, LAMH and a consultant Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
